New device aims to stop deadly infections in tiny preemies

NCT ID NCT02633124

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested a special multi-line device (Edelvaiss Multiline NEO) to see if it could prevent bloodstream infections caused by catheters in very premature infants. The device was compared to standard infusion sets in 87 babies born between 24 and 29 weeks. The study was terminated early, so results are limited, but the goal was to reduce serious infections that can lead to longer hospital stays and other complications.
