Can a shot or special stitches keep Kids' surgery wounds safer?

NCT ID NCT07346742

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to prevent wound infections after common groin surgeries in children, like hernia repairs. Researchers are comparing three approaches: no antibiotics, a single preventive antibiotic dose, or using stitches coated with infection-fighting material. About 174 children having day surgery will be randomly assigned to one method and have their wounds checked several times after surgery.
