New hope for ICU patients: drug may stop deadly secondary infections

Summary
This study tests if a drug called Interferon gamma can prevent new infections in intensive care unit (ICU) patients whose immune systems are weakened. About 326 adults who have been in the ICU for at least a week will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug reduces infections and helps patients recover faster.
