Churches fight high blood pressure crisis with local health coaches
NCT ID NCT05367544
Summary
This study tests whether church-based health coaching can help prevent high blood pressure in rural Black adults in Alabama. Participants with slightly elevated blood pressure receive education, tablets for online cooking and exercise classes, and some get additional phone coaching from trained church members. The goal is to see if reducing barriers to healthy eating and physical activity lowers blood pressure and can be implemented cost-effectively in similar communities.
