Two-Shot strategy aims to shield newborns from hepatitis b

NCT ID NCT05705427

Summary

This study tested a simple way to prevent mothers from passing hepatitis B to their babies during birth. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, 317 pregnant women with hepatitis B received either a real medication or a placebo pill during late pregnancy. All their newborns got a hepatitis B vaccine shot within a day of birth. Researchers checked if this combined approach was safe, practical, and effective at stopping the virus from spreading to infants.
