New hope for babies: trial tests antivirals to stop hepatitis b at birth

Summary
This study tests whether giving antiviral medicine to pregnant women with hepatitis B and their newborns can stop the virus from passing to the baby. About 450 women and their infants in Africa will take part. The goal is to find a safe, effective way to protect babies from this lifelong infection.
