This study tested whether a protein called alpha-1 antitrypsin can prevent acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) in people receiving a blood stem cell transplant for blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma. The trial involved 222 participants aged 12 and older. The main goal was to see if the treatment delayed or prevented severe aGVHD or death compared to a placebo.
