First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving emergency room visitors a health screening and personalized advice can help them adopt healthier lifestyles and prevent non-communicable diseases like heart disease and diabetes. About 1,172 adults in Hong Kong who have at least one unhealthy habit (like smoking or poor diet) will be split into two groups. One group gets extra support, including text reminders and short videos, while the other gets standard advice. The goal is to see if the extra support leads to more people sticking with healthy changes over 6 to 12 months.
