Could a simple stent stop deadly colon surgery leaks?

Summary

This study is testing if placing a small, preventive stent in a narrowed gut artery before colon surgery can reduce the risk of a dangerous leak from the surgical connection. It will involve 360 patients over 40 who have this specific artery narrowing and are scheduled for elective colon surgery. Half will get the stent procedure before their surgery, and researchers will compare leak rates between the two groups over a year.
