New approach aims to stop Graft-Versus-Host disease in young cancer patients
NCT ID NCT03779854
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tests whether removing a specific type of immune cell (naive T cells) from donated stem cells can prevent chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children and young adults with blood cancers. GVHD occurs when donor cells attack the patient's body, causing long-term complications. The trial involves 68 participants and aims to see if this cell removal is safe and effective at preventing GVHD while still allowing the transplant to work.
