Personalized support aims to stop child abuse before it starts

NCT ID NCT04438161

Summary

This study aims to prevent child abuse and neglect by identifying newborns at higher risk and providing their families with personalized guidance to community support services. Researchers are following 150 families in Missouri, randomly assigning some to receive extra help connecting to resources like parenting education and mental health care. The main goal is to see if this extra support helps families use more preventive services and leads to fewer official reports of child maltreatment by the time the child is 18 months old.
