Can a common supplement save hearing from chemo?
NCT ID NCT07364747
Summary
This study is testing if a medication called N-acetylcysteine (NAC) can prevent hearing loss caused by a powerful chemotherapy drug called cisplatin. Researchers will compare hearing changes in 40 cancer patients who receive either NAC or a placebo while undergoing their cisplatin treatment. The goal is to see if NAC can shield the inner ear and preserve hearing, a common and permanent side effect of this life-saving cancer therapy.
