Study aims to stop the revolving door of c. diff infections

NCT ID NCT04138706

Summary

This study tested if adding a two-week tapering dose of the antibiotic vancomycin after the standard 14-day treatment could prevent C. difficile infection (CDI) from coming back. It involved 263 adults who had just finished treatment for their first or second CDI. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the extra tapering dose or a placebo pill for two weeks to see which group had fewer recurrences.
