New bandage aims to slash infection risk after breast cancer surgery

Summary
This study is testing if a special wound dressing that applies gentle suction (negative pressure therapy) can prevent infections and poor healing after complex breast cancer surgery. It will involve 254 women at high risk for healing problems, such as those who smoke, have diabetes, or are obese. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the special dressing or standard care after their operation to see which works better.
