Can a single shot save bones after a Life-Threatening hospital stay?
NCT ID NCT04608630
Summary
This trial is testing whether two existing bone-strengthening drugs, denosumab or zoledronic acid, can prevent bone loss in older adults who have survived a serious illness requiring intensive care. It will involve 450 women aged 50+ and men aged 70+ who spent more than a day in the ICU. The main goal is to see if these drugs, given early, can help maintain bone density and reduce fracture risk in the year after recovery.
