New mattress aims to prevent bedsores without manual turning
NCT ID NCT07213739
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This lab study tests a new mattress system that uses air pressure and gentle pulsations to reduce the risk of bedsores. Twenty healthy adults will lie on the mattress for extended periods while researchers measure pressure on the skin, blood flow, and comfort. The goal is to see if the mattress can effectively relieve pressure without needing nurses to manually reposition patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Caylis Pro® low air loss mattress with pulsation therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this mattress could help prevent pressure injuries (bedsores) in people who are bedridden, reducing the need for manual repositioning.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early lab study in healthy volunteers, not patients. Results may not apply to real-world hospital settings or people at high risk for pressure ulcers.
