HIV prevention goes to the people: rio study brings PrEP to vulnerable communities
NCT ID NCT07584122
First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026
Summary
This study aims to make HIV prevention easier for people in underserved communities in Rio de Janeiro, such as gay and bisexual men, transgender women, and sex workers. Instead of requiring visits to traditional clinics, the study offers HIV prevention pills (PrEP) directly in community settings like NGOs, mobile health units, and through telehealth. The goal is to see if this approach helps more people start and stay on PrEP, ultimately reducing new HIV infections.
