New ultrasound technique aims to avoid unnecessary surgeries for bile duct cancer

NCT ID NCT07161869

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether an improved endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedure can better find cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in people with bile duct cancer. About 250 adults with suspected resectable bile duct cancer will get the improved EUS before surgery. The main goal is to see how many patients can avoid unnecessary surgery because the test finds cancer spread that would make surgery ineffective.
