NCT ID NCT02390895
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a new, less invasive surgery to repair spina bifida before birth. Seven pregnant women carrying babies with myelomeningocele (a severe form of spina bifida) underwent a keyhole procedure using two small incisions and a camera. The goal was to see if this approach could successfully close the spinal defect and reduce the need for surgery after birth, while monitoring safety for both mother and baby.
