First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving preterm babies (29 weeks or older) pain medicine and atropine before a less invasive breathing treatment helps prevent dangerous drops in heart rate and oxygen levels. 58 babies took part, receiving either the medicine or a placebo. The goal was to see if premedication makes the procedure safer and more successful.
