Trial tests if sedation cuts risks for fragile Newborns' breathing procedure

NCT ID NCT05065424

Summary

This study tested whether giving two medications (fentanyl for pain/sedation and atropine) before a common breathing treatment for premature babies makes the procedure safer. It involved 58 infants born at 29 weeks or later who had respiratory distress. Researchers compared babies who got the premedication to those who did not, checking for drops in heart rate and oxygen levels during the treatment.
