Doctors investigate why premature babies get extra blood transfusions

NCT ID NCT06909487

Summary

This study looked back at the medical records of 201 very premature babies to understand why some received more blood transfusions than the national guidelines recommend. Researchers analyzed transfusion practices during the babies' first month of life to identify patterns and classify which infants received excess transfusions. The goal was to gather knowledge about current medical practices, not to test a new treatment.
