Watching Baby's gaze: could it predict future language problems?

NCT ID NCT07245693

Summary

This study aims to understand how premature babies learn to connect what they see (like lip movements) with what they hear (speech sounds), a key early step for language. Researchers will track 60 premature infants by measuring where they look when shown videos of people speaking. The goal is to see if delays in this skill help explain why some premature children later develop language difficulties or autism.
