Tiny nose germs may hold key to preterm baby lung health
NCT ID NCT07411261
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study follows 270 preterm babies (born before 32 weeks) from birth to age 3 to see how the germs in their nose and gut affect their breathing health. Researchers will collect nasal swabs, stool samples, and some blood and milk samples to track germ changes. The goal is to find out if the germ patterns can predict lung diseases like bronchopulmonary dysplasia, asthma, and severe viral infections.
