Summary

This large international study is testing whether treating hidden urine infections in pregnant women can prevent serious birth complications. Researchers are enrolling over 1,100 pregnant women in developing countries to see if antibiotics reduce preterm births, small babies, and stillbirths. The goal is to find a simple, effective way to improve pregnancy outcomes where healthcare resources are limited.
