Scientists search for clues to dangerous pregnancy complication in egg donation

NCT ID NCT07178652

Summary

This study aims to understand why pregnancies resulting from donated eggs have a higher risk of developing preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication. Researchers will collect cheek swabs from 2,325 mothers, children, and egg donors to analyze specific immune system markers (HLA-C/KIR combinations). By comparing these markers between those who developed preeclampsia and those who did not, they hope to identify patterns that increase risk.
