First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether a nurse-led, step-by-step plan can help people with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) safely reduce and stop the steroid prednisolone faster than usual care. About 120 newly diagnosed patients will be randomly assigned to either the structured taper plan or standard care by their general practitioner. The goal is to see if more patients can achieve remission without needing steroids after one year.
