First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether a new ultrasound technique, called speckle tracking, can better predict when patients in the intensive care unit will struggle after having their breathing tube removed. Researchers will perform heart and lung ultrasounds on 110 adults during a weaning trial to see if this method is more accurate than current tools. The goal is to help doctors make safer decisions about removing breathing tubes.
