Can a simple sensor predict diabetes years before symptoms?

NCT ID NCT05777330

Summary

This study aims to find out if a wearable continuous glucose monitor (CGM) can predict when someone at high risk for Type 1 diabetes will actually develop the disease. Researchers will follow 75 children and adults (ages 5-39) who have markers for diabetes but no symptoms, for 2-3 years. They will compare data from the easy-to-use CGM sensor with results from more complex, standard blood tests to see which method is better at forecasting disease onset.
