Doctors test if a simple score can guide surgery for lung infections
NCT ID NCT07188714
Summary
This study aims to see if doctors can predict the type of chest surgery a patient will need for a severe complication of pneumonia called a parapneumonic effusion. Researchers will enroll 95 adults who need surgery and check if a pre-surgery risk score and ultrasound results can accurately forecast whether a simpler or more complex procedure is required. The goal is to help plan better care by understanding which patients need which surgery.
