New test could help some rectal cancer patients skip surgery
NCT ID NCT06364371
Summary
This study aims to test a new prediction model that uses multiple types of patient data to forecast how well someone's rectal cancer will respond to treatment given before surgery. Researchers will enroll 106 patients with locally advanced rectal cancer to see if the model can accurately identify those whose cancer disappears completely with pre-surgery therapy. The goal is to better select patients who might be candidates to avoid major surgery through a 'watch-and-wait' approach.
