New test aims to predict which rectal cancers vanish with chemoradiation

NCT ID NCT06364371

Summary

This study aims to develop and test a new prediction model to identify which patients with locally advanced rectal cancer will have their tumors completely disappear after receiving chemotherapy and radiation before surgery. Researchers will collect multiple types of data (like MRI scans and blood tests) from about 106 patients before, during, and after their pre-surgery treatment. The goal is to create a tool that can accurately predict a complete response, which could help doctors decide if some patients can safely avoid major surgery and instead be monitored closely.
