New scoring system aims to predict surgery type for dangerous pregnancy condition
NCT ID NCT06220760
Summary
This study tested whether a specific ultrasound score, called the Placenta Accreta Index (PAI), could help doctors predict the best type of surgery for a serious pregnancy complication. Researchers followed 154 pregnant women with placenta previa and a prior C-section. The goal was to see if the score could reliably indicate whether a patient needed a full hysterectomy or could have a more conservative, fertility-sparing surgery.
