New scan aims to predict dangerous leaks after complex pancreas surgery

NCT ID NCT07139236

Summary

This study is testing if a special ultrasound scan done before pancreas surgery can predict how soft the pancreas tissue is during the operation. A soft pancreas is a known risk factor for a dangerous leak called a pancreatic fistula after surgery. The study will enroll 100 patients to see if the scan's measurements accurately predict tissue texture and the risk of this complication.
