Blood test could give doctors early warning of kidney failure

NCT ID NCT01544231

Summary

This study aimed to see if measuring a protein called NGAL in the blood could help doctors predict which patients with severe muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) would develop sudden kidney failure. Researchers followed 197 patients admitted to emergency rooms with this condition. The goal was to find a faster way to identify high-risk patients so they could receive more intensive care sooner.
