Blood tests aim to predict who can breathe on their own after ICU ventilation

NCT ID NCT05637099

Summary

This study aims to find better ways to predict when ICU patients are ready to breathe on their own after being on a ventilator. Researchers will take repeated blood samples from 266 adult patients during a breathing trial to see if certain markers can forecast who will need the breathing tube put back in. The goal is to gather knowledge to help doctors make safer decisions about when to remove ventilator support.
