Study reveals key clues to prevent Post-Surgery calcium crash

NCT ID NCT07211581

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at 123 adults who had their thyroid gland removed to find out what predicts dangerously low calcium levels afterward. Researchers checked things like age, pre-surgery calcium and vitamin D levels, and how much the parathyroid glands were handled during surgery. They found that a low parathyroid hormone (PTH) level after surgery is a strong warning sign. The goal is to help doctors identify at-risk patients early and prevent complications.
