Summary
This study looked at 140 adults having mitral valve surgery to see if special ultrasound measurements (called global longitudinal strain) could predict a serious complication called low cardiac output syndrome. Researchers used ultrasound images taken during surgery to find the best way to spot patients at risk. The goal was to improve monitoring and care, not to test a new treatment.
