Dizzy in the ER? new study aims to cut stroke misdiagnosis with a quick exam

NCT ID NCT07287891

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a bedside exam done by emergency room doctors can accurately tell if a patient's vertigo, dizziness, or unsteadiness is caused by a stroke or other central nervous system problem. Researchers will study 825 adults in the ER to see how well the exam works and find clues that predict a serious cause. The goal is to reduce missed strokes, unnecessary brain scans, and hospital stays.
