Simple blood test may forecast cancer treatment outcomes

Summary
This study aims to find out if a simple blood test, called the Inflammation-Based Index (IBI), can predict how well patients with advanced intestinal neuroendocrine tumors will respond to a targeted radiation therapy called Lu-177 oxodotreotide. Researchers will follow 150 patients for three years to see if the IBI score, calculated from two common blood proteins, accurately forecasts whether the cancer will shrink or stop growing. The goal is to help doctors better understand which patients are most likely to benefit from this treatment.
