Hunting the clues: can scans predict deadly cancer in genetic disorder?

NCT ID NCT05677594

Summary

This study aims to find better ways to predict which benign nerve tumors in people with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) might turn into a dangerous, hard-to-treat cancer called MPNST. Researchers will follow 80 participants considered at high risk, using annual whole-body MRI scans, blood tests, and clinical check-ups to look for specific signs in the tumors. The goal is to identify imaging 'biomarkers' that could allow for earlier detection and intervention before cancer develops.
