Could a common diabetes pill stop prediabetes in its tracks?

NCT ID NCT06828731

Summary

This study tested if a medication called empagliflozin, which is already used for diabetes, could help people with prediabetes. The goal was to see if it could slow or prevent the progression to full diabetes and reduce future heart and kidney risks. For 12 weeks, 60 veterans with prediabetes either took the drug or were in a control group, while researchers measured blood sugar, weight, and other health markers.
