New scan aims to sharpen cancer surgery, spare healthy tissue
NCT ID NCT07383246
Summary
This study is testing whether a new type of PET-CT scan can help surgeons better see and remove all medullary thyroid cancer during an operation. 150 newly diagnosed patients will be randomly assigned to have surgery guided by this new scan or by the surgeon's standard approach. The main goal is to see if the scan-guided surgery is as good or better at achieving a 'biochemical cure,' meaning no detectable cancer markers in the blood after surgery.
