First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving the right amount of anti-inflammatory medicine (corticosteroids) can lower the high death rate (25-50%) in severe pneumonia patients in the ICU. It focuses on two specific causes: adenovirus and Pneumocystis jirovecii. About 1,500 adults will be randomly assigned to different steroid doses or standard care, and the main goal is to see who is alive after 28 days.
