First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether a prebiotic (a type of fiber that feeds good gut bacteria) can improve symptoms in people with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. 38 adults each took the prebiotic or a placebo for four weeks, then switched. Researchers measured symptom changes, gut bacteria, and inflammation markers to see if the prebiotic helps calm the gut.
