Can a quick lesson before surgery stop dangerous falls?
NCT ID NCT03857945
Summary
This study aims to see if teaching patients how to use crutches, walkers, or knee scooters before their foot or ankle surgery helps prevent falls during recovery. It will involve 250 adults who are scheduled for this type of surgery and will need to avoid putting weight on their foot afterward. Half will get the special training before their operation, and half will not, to compare how many falls happen in each group.
