Can a Pre-Surgery snack help diabetic patients recover faster?

NCT ID NCT07237841

Summary

This study tested if giving a sugary drink before surgery is safe for people with well-controlled type 2 diabetes. 76 participants were randomly assigned to either drink the solution or follow the standard rule of fasting before their operation. Researchers measured their blood sugar levels and checked their stomachs to see if the drink caused unsafe spikes in sugar or increased the risk of stomach contents getting into the lungs.
