First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether heart rate patterns and pupil reactions can objectively measure anxiety in patients before day surgery. 71 adults scheduled for day-case surgery were monitored before and during a small procedure (cannulation). The goal was to see if these simple, non-invasive tests could replace questionnaires and help doctors better understand patient anxiety.
