Blood pressure pill may stop PTSD before it starts

NCT ID NCT03045016

Summary

This study tested whether prazosin, a blood pressure medication, could prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who recently experienced trauma. Researchers enrolled 15 adults who visited emergency departments after accidents or assaults and showed early stress symptoms. Participants received prazosin to see if blocking stress hormones could stop PTSD from developing.
