Old blood pressure pill gets new test to curb alcohol cravings

Summary

This Yale University study is testing if prazosin, a medication usually used for high blood pressure, can help people with alcohol use disorder who experience withdrawal symptoms. 150 participants will take either prazosin or a placebo pill for 12 weeks while also receiving weekly counseling. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces the number of days people engage in heavy drinking.
