Blood pressure drug could curb heavy drinking in alcohol use disorder

Summary

This study tests whether prazosin, a blood pressure medicine, can help people with alcohol use disorder and a history of withdrawal symptoms reduce heavy drinking. 150 participants will receive either prazosin or a placebo for 12 weeks, along with weekly counseling. The main goal is to see if prazosin lowers the percentage of heavy drinking days.
